On Friday, oil prices tumbled in a tense market as the United States applied a set of tariffs on Chinese goods in a move that could prompt Beijing to respond with similar fees that could include its imports of the US crude.

Oil prices fell in early trading today as stock markets fell.

By 0528 GMT, the US WTI crude futures rose 13 cents, 0.2 percent, from the previous level to reach $ 73.07 a barrel.

Brent crude futures fell six cents, 0.1 percent, to reach $ 77.33 a barrel.

The US-China trade dispute overshadows the oil markets, with Washington imposing customs duties on Chinese goods from 0401 GMT today.
